SERCOS International Strengthens its Presence in Asia

April 21, 2008 -- Demand is increasing in Asia for uniform automation solutions and for higher flexibility in the production sector. As the SERCOS III real time Ethernet system fulfils these requirements, and thousands of applications with the previous versions of the SERCOS interface have been successfully applied since the 1990s, SERCOS International is set to further strengthen its activities in Asia.

With an independent branch office set up last year in Beijing, numerous activities are planned for the current year. SERCOS International is again being represented with a shared booth at the FA/PA Automation Exhibition in Beijing June 10-13, 2008. A SERCOS III workshop will be held on the second day of the exhibition.

A late summer road show is planned for several cities in China. On September 15 and 16, 2008, SERCOS International will present several seminars in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenyang and Wuhan, in which users and developers will discuss current themes in automation technology and the latest information on SERCOS III.

SERCOS (acronym for SErial Realtime COmmunication System) is among the leading digital interfaces for communication between controls, motors and decentralized peripheral devices. SERCOS has been used in machine engineering for more than 15 years and is implemented in over 2 million real time nodes. With its open, manufacturer-independent architecture based on Industrial Ethernet, SERCOS III is a universal bus for all automation solutions.

SERCOS International (SI) is the user organization responsible for the technical development, standardization, certification and commercialization of the SERCOS interface standard. The organization, with its headquarters in Germany, presently has more than 60 member companies all over the world as well as subsidiary trade associations in North America and Asia.
