Sercos Offers Free Technical Webinars

Sercos International, supplier of the Sercos® automation bus, has scheduled three technical webinars for May and June that will provide interested parties profound insight into the technology.

Rigobert Kynast, Technical Leader Sercos III Communication at Bosch Rexroth AG, will start the webinars with a tips & tricks session at 16 hrs CET (10 am EDT) on May 19. He will explain how Sercos can be implemented quickly and easily and will focus on the following points:

  • Installation of a Sercos network
  • Identification of the profiles
  • Configuration and diagnosis of slave devices
  • Redundancy and hot plugging
  • IP communication via the UC channel
  • Tools

The second webinar, headed by Kynast, will take place at 16 hrs CET (10 am EDT) on May 26 and will focus on the topic "Functionality of Redundancy." The webinar will discuss the requirements for redundancy in the ring, how a cable break is recognized and how it should be reacted to, how communication via two lines works, and switching the telegram assessment. Kynast will also explain how the system recognizes that a cable break has been removed and the ring topology is being restored.

The third webinar covers the topic "Connection Mechanisms." It takes place at 16 hrs CET (10 am EDT) on June 3. Kynast will explain what Sercos defines as a connection, what connection structures there are in a telegram, and how a connection is positioned in the telegram.

After each presentation, which will last approximately half an hour, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the content of the presentation. For more information, please refer to the Sercos International eNewsletter or visit their website.
