Sercos IP Core for Xilinx® 7 Series FPGAs and Zynq® SoC Family

Sercos International announced the availability of the Sercos III IP Core for Xilinx 7 series FPGAs and devices of the Zynq SoC family. The IP core is available for Sercos III master and slave controllers (SERCON100M/S) for automation devices. It includes all hardware functions, such as timing, synchronization and processing of cyclic and non-cyclic data on the basis of two integrated Ethernet MACs. Sercos III master and slave devices can be implemented as a single chip solution using either Xilinx Artix®-7 FPGAs, other FPGAs of the 7 series or Zynq SoC devices, which integrate an ARM® dual-core Cortex™-A9 processor. Sercos III Open Source Soft-Master Core Announced

Sercos International has announced that in cooperation with Bosch Rexroth a Sercos III Soft-Master core will be provided as open source software. By using a Sercos III Soft-Master, a Sercos III master device can be implemented without specific FPGAs or ASIC Sercos III hardware controller. Instead, a standard Ethernet controller is used and the Sercos III hardware functions are emulated in a host-based driver software. With this implementation approach, a sufficient real-time performance can be ensured for a large number of applications. Read more »



Sercos Robot A Hit At Hannover Fair!

Sercos recorded growing interest in Sercos-capable products at Hanover Fair 2015. A robotic demo from Schneider Electric was the highlight, attracting many visitors who used the opportunity to test their abilities by playing the robo-based game of Tic-Tac-Toe! Five Million Sercos Real-Time Nodes Installed Worldwide

With 5 million real-time nodes installed in automation systems worldwide, Sercos has reached an additional milestone in its 25 year history as one of the premier automation busses. In 2014 about 480,000 new Sercos nodes were installed, 54% of which were Sercos and 46% were Sercos I/II. For several years, the Ethernet-based Sercos III has been showing double-digit growth, whereas the number of new installations for the conventional Sercos interface (Sercos I/II) has been declining slightly since 2012. Sercos International Records Worldwide Growth In Membership

Sercos International recorded a growth in membership of approximately 30% in 2014. In addition to new European members Schubert System Elektronik, Germany, Texas Instruments Deutschland GmbH, and Laumas Elettronica S.r.l. in Italy, the user organization experienced a significant growth in Asia.
