Sercos is continuing its successful webinar series with a webinar on Diagnostics scheduled for November 12, 2015. Rigobert Kynast, Technical Leader Sercos III Communication at Bosch Rexroth AG, will explain Sercos diagnostics in this webinar and discuss how the diagnosis is structured in a Sercos slave. A Webinar titled Robust communication – Redundancy concepts for industrial communication networks and plants will be presented on December 1, 2015, beginning at 16:00 CET (10 am EST). Stephan Kehrer, Engineer Future Technology, Hirschmann Automation and Control GmbH, will offer a brief introduction to different concepts that can provide fault-tolerance to Ethernet communication networks, will present an introduction to static and dynamic redundancy protocols as specified in the IEC 62439, parts 2 and 3 and will give a brief comparison between the properties of the introduced protocols.

Sercos to Present a SoftMaster Demo at SPS IPC Drives
Sercos will present a SoftMaster demo during the SPS IPC Drives Show in Nuremberg, November 24 to 26, in hall 2, stand 440. This demo is based on a Sercos III SoftMaster core, which was developed in cooperation with Bosch Rexroth AG and is being made available as open-source software for general use in the software pool of Sercos International.
With the Sercos III SoftMaster, a Sercos III master FPGA or ASIC hardware component is not required. Instead, a standard Ethernet controller is used and the Sercos III hardware functions are emulated in host-based driver software. With this implementation approach, adequate real-time behavior is ensured for a large number of applications. If an Ethernet controller with several queues and telegram scheduling (such as the Intel i210™) is used, synchronizations and high availabilities similar to a hardware-based master can be achieved. Also on display will be an attractive hexapod demo from Bosch Rexroth, a Sercos-based vision system from Imago Technologies and drive and control technologies from companies such as Automata, Bihl+Wiedemann, Bosch Rexroth, Phoenix Contact, and Schneider Electric; plus vision systems from Imago and Vision & Control.
Sercos Multi-Vendor Demo at Fabtech Show
The Sercos multi-vendor interoperability demo shows automation products from several manufacturers connected using the Sercos automation bus. It includes Sercos products from Bosch Rexroth, Aventics, Cannon-Automata, Feller Engineering, Festo, halstrup-walcher, Hilscher, RiceLake/Laumas and TR-Electronic.
